This week at work is always the busiest week of the year. And why is that? Because people can’t remember anything.
It has always confused me a bit, that people can take a few days off and then get back to work and completely forget their passwords. It’s befuddling to me, because let’s face it: in this day and age, everyone has passwords, PIN numbers, access codes and other things that they have to remember and use on a daily basis. So how do these otherwise smart people forget a simple password?
I even had someone call today because her “login screen looks different.” Yeah, her computer was just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 the Tuesday before Christmas, and with the week off for the company shutdown after Christmas, she completely forgot how it’s supposed to look. Of course, I couldn’t remote to her machine to see the login screen, so I couldn’t confirm that it looked how it was supposed to look until I’d spent 5 minutes asking questions about what she was seeing.
I was on calls almost all day today non stop, although since I’m still rusty at logging tickets, it takes nearly as long to create the call ticket as it does to actually handle the call. But that will get better as time goes along. But it was a long, hard, tiring day.
Hopefully people will remember their passwords tomorrow.
