‘Twas the night called Thursday
And the house was quiet
Hannah and Zoe were gone
Locked in at school far away
Without them,
The evening surely would be silent.
The portion of my clan that remained
Had no pressing projects contained
In homework assignments
From teachers about whom they might complain.
My own work week has been
One of mindless tedium,
Removing, recreating, and updating
Printers by the dozen.
So a relaxing evening was called for,
After a nice stew of potato and heifer
Which had cooked all day
In the crock of the slow cooker.
What to pursue after dinner?
What, perchance, would entertain me?
A book maybe?
Or Netflix movie?
No. Instead we would pursue Monopoly
Of the Star Wars variety.
It’s always more fun to be a trader
When playing in the guise of Darth Vader.
Alas, my skill did not foment
A victory at that moment,
For I lost to Patrick
Who frequently won the free parking pick.
Yet it was enjoyable,
The wife, son and I at the table
Pursuing a family activity together
When so often we’re too busy to do things with each other.
Once the game ended
We all disbanded,
Heading to bed
Or to blog.
Thus are you given
The update on the evenin’.
Having written this entry, I to you no longer owe
A blog entry. So see you tomorrow.
