It’s funny how those great journeys begin with such small steps, isn’t it? This is mine:
The entire clan here at Lathropworld joined the YMCA today. And as much as the more immediate goals are important for Jenni and I, the longer-range goals are just as important if not more so: to try to help teach my kids to not follow my lead.
So we all joined around 12:45 today, and at 5, Jenni and I were back to partake of our first experience of a gym membership: the first tussle with a couple of pieces of exercise equipment.
Over the course of 40 minutes, I did things my body hasn’t done for a while–moved in any sort of meaningful, healthful way. All with that goal out there, just waiting for me to reach out and grasp it.
And now, at 10 p.m., 5 hours after starting that journey, I ache like you wouldn’t believe.
I’ll keep you informed.
See you tomorrow.
