Oh what a week.
The “other shoe” dropped at work this afternoon as our manager announced that the help desk is being completely reorganized. It’s probably long overdue, but I’m pretty sure it’s still going to mean some kind of substantial change to my role, and that never feels great.
The good news is that regardless, I’ll still be working, which is always a good thing, so I guess I can’t complain on that note. But on the other hand, all of this means that the last four years of my tier 2 work is basically out the window because tier 2 won’t exist as it has during that time.
It is what it is, but it doesn’t make it feel any better. But I’m waiting for the final announcement and meeting with me to tell me exactly what my role will be to see how I feel. I should know in the next few work days, so stay tuned.
But, the firm things that I do know include the announcement that I’ll have my seventh supervisor in six-and-a-half years. Who that is, I don’t know–we have two open supervisor positions and no one named to them yet, so we’ll see.
I’m looking forward to the weekend so that I can just ignore work for two days and not have to think about the drama until sometime late Sunday.
See you tomorrow.
